American Business Women’s Association

Greater Rochester Express Network

Standing Rules, 2007 - 2008

  1. All members will receive the same ABWA benefits and responsibilities regardless on how they designate their network membership.

  1. Members and guests who make a reservation and do not attend will be expected to pay $15.00 for the Meeting/Meal. Two notices of payment will be sent out to the Member/Guest. The charge is required whether a meal is eaten or not. To cancel a reservation, the VP Membership needs to be notified by 12:00 Noon Friday before the Tuesday Breakfast Meeting.

  1. The board may approve bills up to $150 without approval of the membership.

  1. In the event of a decision making vote in the board, voting privileges are assigned to the Vice-Presidents with the President as the tie breaker.

  1. 5 vice presidents or 4 vice presidents and president will constitute a quorum for voting in the board.

  1. 40% of membership will constitute a quorum for voting in the monthly meetings

  1. In the future, The Board will present an annual budget to the membership for review and discussion at the August GREN meeting.  Amended budget will be distributed via e-mail or will be available upon request.  Voting for approval of budget will be at the September meeting.   The budget will be for the period of August 1 through July 31 of the following year.

  1. In March, membership will vote on a Top Ten Candidate and 3 Express Candidates for Networker of the Year Awards.   In April the awards are presented, to allow time to submit Top Ten Candidate to National by May deadline.  Award winners receive a certificate suitable for framing and press release in Rochester Post Bulletin with a budgeted minimum of $50 per award.  The chapter will reimburse up to $100 to Top Ten Award winner if she attends Conference.

    • Top Ten Candidates will be chosen from a list of qualified members based on the current ABWA National rules.
    • Networker of the Year qualifications and considerations:

~ Be a member in good standing of at least 1 year in GREN

~ Should have given a bit extra to the network

~ Be a role model for other members

~ Attend meetings regularly

~ Invited guests to attend meetings and join GREN

A committee would list eligible members and the membership votes on the top three.  The committee interviews the top three using the ‘model’ questionnaire.  Two to three women selected from the community will review the candidate’s biographies and pick one.  If there is a tie, the committee would cast a vote or could choose to award more than one member.

  1. In the future, GREN Standing Rules will be made available for review and discussion by the membership at the October monthly meeting.  Amended standing rules will be distributed to membership via email and will be available upon request.  The standing rules will then be voted on at the November GREN meeting.
